Welcome to Providence Tax Aide
at Dunn Loring Fire Hall
We are looking forward to helping you this year. Because the Community Center is closed on Saturdays through the tax season, we will start doing taxes on February 26 at an alternate location, the Dunn Loring Fire Hall.
You should ensure you have received all the necessary tax documents before coming to your appointment. You will need to obtain and complete a packet before coming in for your interview. Please fully fill out all forms in advance of your appointment.
Photo ID is required for all Taxpayers and Spouse (if married); Social Security Cards (not just the numbers) for all people claimed on the tax return.
How Your Tax Return Will be Prepared
On the day of your tax appointment, you must wear a mask, bring your vaccination card, and review the COVID-19 screening questions. Once your counselor is available, he or she will review your documents, discuss your information, and prepare your return. Then, another counselor will quality review your return, and print it for your signature. Once you (and your spouse, if filing jointly) have signed the return, we will efile it for you and send you home with your documents and a file copy of your return.
Contact us with any questions
Please email us at email@example.com. You can also call our google voice number, 703-496-4170 (Leave your name, phone number and a brief message and someone will call you back within 72 hours.) DO NOT CALL THE FIRE HALL DIRECTLY – THEY ARE NOT MAKING APPOINTMENTS.
Step 1: Ensure we can prepare your return
We can help with most, but not all tax returns, so be sure to read the list of items of returns we cannot prepare.
Step 2: Obtain and fill out the Forms Packets
Complete a forms packet for each year. For example, to file your taxes for both 2020 and 2021, download and complete 2 packets.
Download and print the main intake form:
TaxAide Intake/Interview & Quality Review Sheet.
Review the information you will need to bring, and please download and fill out the appropriate form(s) from the Supplemental Forms page. Be sure to check whether you received the third stimulus payment (usually $1400 per person) in early 2021, and be sure you know how much Advanced Child Tax Credit you received between July and December 2021.
Alternatively, beginning February 16, you can pick up the packets at the Providence Community Center during weekday operating hours.
Step 3: Make an Appointment
We are taking names of people who want to have their taxes done. If you want an appointment, send an email to Providencetaxaide@gmail.com with your name, whether you have done your taxes with us before, whether you are vaccinated, your email address and your phone number. If you do not have an email account, you can leave a message on our google voice number, 703-496-4170 with the same information, plus let us know if this is a mobile number that we can text.
We will contact people on the appointment list as appointments become available.
For the first few weeks, we will only be helping those who are fully vaccinated. Assuming covid cases continue to decrease, we will help folks who are not vaccinated later in the season.
As we move through our appointments list, we will contact the next set of people on the list. You will receive an email from SignupGenius letting you choose the date and time of your appointment, which is just for you. You will also receive a reminder email from SignUpGenius a day or two before your appointment. Let us know as soon as possible if you need to reschedule your appointment so we can help as many people as possible.
Step 4: Prepare for your Appointment
The day before your appointment, please review whether you have been recently exposed to someone with covid, have an active covid infection, have any covid symptoms, or are otherwise sick with a cold or flu. If so, please email or call us and we will contact you to reschedule your appointment.
