Providence Community Center
Welcome to Providence TaxAide
We are looking forward to helping you this year. We will be doing taxes on most Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. WE ARE CLOSED ON APRIL 4, 6, and 13. Our last day open will be Tuesday, April 18.
We will be making appointments, but the process is different this year than the past two years. After you have all the necessary tax documents for us to prepare your return, please go online to schedule an appointment. You should either download or pick up a copy of the intake and any necessary supplemental forms and fill them out before coming in for your appointment.
Photo ID is required for all Taxpayers and Spouse (if married). You must bring Social Security Cards (not just the numbers) for all people claimed on the tax return, OR bring the tax return that we did for you last year.
How Your Tax Return Will be Prepared
On the day of your tax appointment, your counselor will review your documents, discuss your information, and prepare your return. Then, another counselor will quality review your return, and print it for your signature. Once you (and your spouse, if filing jointly) have signed the return, we will efile it for you and send you home with your documents and a copy of your return for your records.
Contact us with any questions
Please email us at providencetaxaide@gmail.com. After January 23, you can leave a voicemail on our google voice number, 703-496-4170. Leave your name, phone number, and a brief message and someone will call you back within 72 hours.
Step 1: Ensure we can prepare your return
We can help with most, but not all tax returns, so be sure to read the list of items of returns we cannot prepare.
Step 2: Obtain and fill out the Forms Packets
Complete a forms packet for each year. For example, to file your taxes for both 2022 and 2021, download and complete 2 packets.
Download and print the main intake form:
TaxAide Intake/Interview & Quality Review Sheet
Fill out the intake form. Review the information you will need to bring, and please download and fill out the appropriate form(s) from the Supplemental Forms page.
Alternatively, you can pick up the intake and supplemental forms at the front desk at the Providence Community Center during their operating hours.
Step 3: Make an Appointment
Once you have received all the necessary tax documents for us to prepare your return, go to our SignUp Genius link and pick an appointment time. We will be opening up appointment times a couple weeks at a time, so check back later if you aren’t able to find an appointment time when you check the first time. Make one appointment for each return you want us to prepare. Married filing jointly is one return. Filing returns for 2021 and 2022 is two returns.
You will receive a reminder email from SignUpGenius a day or two before your appointment. Let us know as soon as possible if you need to reschedule your appointment so we can help as many people as possible.
Step 4: Prepare for your Appointment
The day before your appointment, please review whether you have an active covid infection, have any covid symptoms, or are otherwise sick with a cold or flu. If so, please stay home. Call us at 703-496-4170 or send an email to providencetaxaide@gmail.com as soon as you know you aren’t coming, and we will contact you to reschedule your appointment.
