Free Tax Assistance – 2025 Tax Returns
Welcome to Manassas Bull Run Tax Aide, located at the Bull Run Regional Library. We will be open from Feb 2 to Apr 15 (open President's Day and closed April 4th for Easter Saturday) during the following hours:
Mondays from 10 am - 4:30 pm
Wednesdays from 10 am – 4:30 pm
Saturdays from 10 am – 3:30 pm
Taxpayers are seen on a walk-in basis, first-come, first-serve. This year we will also have a limited number of appointments available. You can request an appointment for 11am, 12:30pm or 2pm each day that we are open by sending an email to taxaidebullrun@gmail.com. Please provide your name, email address, phone number and a preferred date and time with up to two alternates. We will confirm your appointment by email. Appointments cannot be made by phone or with the library staff.
Do you speak a language other than English? You can request a tax counselor that is fluent in Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, Hindi, and Marathi. Visit us at the library for more information.

Checklist of things to bring with you:
Proof of identification (photo ID or passport) – taxpayer & spouse
Social Security cards for you, spouse and all dependents
OR previous year tax return prepared by TaxAide or VITA
OR correspondence from Social Security (which includes your tax document 1099-SSA).
Photo or printed copy of SS card is acceptable. SSN taken from texts or emails is not acceptable.
Birth date for every name that appears on the tax return
If you have an Identity Protection PIN, bring the letter from IRS for 2025. Letters from previous years are not acceptable.
Income documents from employers and payers – Forms W2, W-2G, 1099-G, 1099-R, 1099-Misc, 1099-NEC, 1099-K, SSA-1099, K-1. If you are not sure if you need it, bring it.
If you are self-employed, bring evidence of business income and business expenses, including commuting and business miles driven. If a printed statement with this information (from Uber/Lyft/DoorDash) is available, bring all pertinent statements from them.
Interest and dividend statements – Forms 1099-INT and 1099-DIV
Consolidated 1099 document from brokerage accounts – All pages if possible
If you are planning to itemize your deductions, bring your mortgage statement (Form 1098), evidence of real estate and personal property taxes that you paid, a list of qualifying medical expenses, and a list of charitable contributions.
If you paid for daycare, bring the name, address, and EIN of daycare provider(s) and evidence of monies paid.
If you have health insurance from the Affordable Care Act (AKA marketplace, Obamacare, health insurance exchange), bring Form 1095-A.
If you paid higher education expenses, bring Form 1098-T and amounts paid for books and supplies. If you received scholarship money, know if this money must be used for tuition or if it may be used for other expenses.
If you paid student loan interest, bring Form 1098-E.
If you bought a new vehicle (not used) in 2025 that had final assembly in the US (enter the VIN number here VIN Decoder to check), bring the VIN number and evidence of auto loan interest that you paid in 2025.
If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA), bring documents relating to contributions and/or distributions.
Last year’s tax return – 2024
Bank account routing number and account number. Bring a blank check or be able to log on to your online bank account to show us this information on your phone. The government no longer issues or accepts checks. You must have an established bank account.
All of these forms may be displayed on a phone or computer but we must be able to read it. If it cannot be read, you will need to bring a paper hard copy.
