AARP Foundation Tax-Aide in Reston

Free Tax Return Preparation for People of All Ages

January 31 – April 14, 2026

Hours:             Tuesdays 9am – 2pm; Thursdays 4:30-8:30 pm; Saturdays 9am-3pm

Location: Reston Community Center (RCC) at Hunters Woods, 2310 Colts Neck Rd (behind Ledo Pizza and Buffalo Wing Factory)

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING ITEMS

1. Before your appointment – Fill out the intake packet available at the RCC front desk or online here.
   
   

2. Make an appointment here. Appointments can be made up to three weeks in advance beginning January 15. You may also text or call 703-651-6858 for assistance, and a volunteer will respond within two days. We can usually fit in a few walk-ins at the beginning of each shift.
   
   

3. Bring photo ID, tax documents for 2025 and your 2024 tax return. First time clients MUST bring Social Security cards for everyone who will be listed on the tax return. Social Security cards are also required for any new dependents.

   1. • Bring your bank account and routing numbers, if you wish to do an electronic refund or payment.  (A voided check is recommended.)
        
        

4. During your scheduled half hour appointment, a volunteer will review your documentation for completeness. After that you will meet with volunteers who will prepare your return and review it with you. Plan to be at the RCC for two hours, or possibly longer for more complicated returns. For joint returns, both spouses need to be present to approve the return.
   
   

5. See here for items we can and cannot do. We also cannot do amended returns unless we prepared your original return.
