Welcome to Reston TaxAide. We are located at the Reston Community Center, behind Ledo Pizza and Buffalo Wing Factory, and operate on:
Tuesdays from 9 AM – 2 PM
Thursdays from 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Saturdays from 9 AM – 3 PM

Please review steps 1-5 below.
Prior to your appointment, you must fill out the Intake/Interview and Quality Review Sheet, which will be available for pickup beginning mid-January at the front desk of the community center or online here: What to Bring. The website also has worksheets for self-employment, education credits, and itemized deductions. If any of these extra worksheets are applicable to you, you may fill them out in advance of your appointment, or our volunteers will help you when you come in.
In addition, you must bring a photo ID, tax documents for 2023, and your prior year return, if you filed one last year. If this is your first time at Reston, please bring social security cards for yourself, spouse, and all dependents. If we prepared your return last year, bring the social security card for any new dependents. If you would like a tax refund deposited in a bank account, please bring a canceled check or your bank routing and account numbers.
To schedule an appointment, please go to Reston Schedule (the scheduler will be available starting January 15, 2024) and follow the instructions to select a day and time for your intake interview. Appointments can be scheduled up to three weeks in advance. Following your intake appointment, you will meet with a volunteer who will prepare your tax return and then with another volunteer, who will review it. Please plan to be at the community center for approximately two hours (less for simpler returns, possibly longer for complex returns). If this is a joint return, both spouses must be present to sign paperwork at the end of the review.
If you have trouble scheduling an appointment, please drop by when we are open. We will try to schedule you that day, or if that is not possible, we will try to find you an appointment in the future. We get very busy late in the season and may not be able to fit in additional appointments then.
Wearing a mask is not required but may be requested by some of our volunteers. If you feel sick, please reschedule your appointment. We look forward to serving you.
